Abstract

The present study is based on the Erikson concept of identity development. Erikson's theory is elaborative, and not research oriented .Later Marcia (1966) developed a framework for using Erikson's (1959/1980] concept of identity development taking crisis and commitment as main principles of studying identity development. The present study aims to study occupational identity among teachers. A sample of81 teachers were taken from Private and Govt. college ofDelhi and NCR and tested on the four statuses ofidentity development [Marcia,1966].The results found significant [P<.05).
